The Resort from the Lake
Each
year Carl takes a week for himself
and travels to the north woods of Minnesota
to enjoy a week fishing and site-seeing
while staying at the Aspen Resort on Pelican
Lake in Orr, Minnesota. Pelican Lake is located 42 miles southeast of International Falls,
MN.
This
is the fifth year Carl has returned to the
Aspen Resort. You can read more about the
resort, get accomodation and rate informaiton,
and make your own reservations to visit
at their website: http://www.aspenmn.com. There are several pages of photos and notes Carl put
together here... at the bottom of each page
there is a link to the next. Enjoy!

The Black Bear Cabin
This is the cabin
Carl stayed in this year.
I got a fantastic surprise
when I checked into the resort this year.
Ray and Vanessa Ingebretson, the resort
owners, upgraded me from the cabin I planned
to rent, the Coyote Cabin, to the Black
Bear Cabin (above), a brand new 3 bedroom,
2 bathroom log cabin with a satellite TV,
Jacuzzi tub, dishwasher, and central heating
and air conditioning. |

DockBoy Cabin and MotorHouse
The
resort provides dockboys (or dockgirls,
as the case may be) to help dock your boat,
get you bait, and greet you with a great
smile each time you go (and return from)
fishing.
I enjoy
chatting with the dockboys. When you live
in the city it's fun to look at life through
the eyes of a young person from the north
woods. This year one of them was getting
her first car while another has finished
college and just gotten engaged.
One of the reasons I like the Aspen
Resort is that the grounds are always clean
and neat. The resort owners, Ray and Vanessa
Ingebretson, always seem to make the resort
better and better each year.
