"Alice Lake", Oil Painting The 2 hours of this session were used to enhance the undercoat of color on the large pine tree, and to set aside the area of rocks under the tree. Now that the pronounced copper color is on the tree's trunk Carl says he can begin experimenting with creating the grain and details of the trunk. Carl mentioned tonight he may let the oil sit on the large tree for a while so the detail surface coat will stick easier (oil paintings require a paint layer placement of thin on thick). The reference image has very green foreground trees in the lower left area - and a couple of the trees run vertical all the way up the canvas. An original 18" X 24" oil painting on stretched canvas using Winsor and Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oils. This project based on a photograph Carl's brother's brother-in-law Lee Eichelberger took while backpacking in Idaho.
