"Alice Lake", Oil Painting Tonight Carl finished the row of trees across the middle horizon. He also placed some more tiny trees on the distant hills. Carl took several times during this 2 hour session to step back and get a feel for how the horizon trees felt. He was looking to see if they properly defined the shadowed area to the left - and the light highlighting the center horizon. Carl said he is also trying to create maximum depth in the image - at times he almost gets a 3D feel looking over the lake into the mountains at the back. He's trying to figure out how to exaggerate that as he develops the big pine tree on the right and the green trees in the foreground (not there yet). An original 18" X 24" oil painting on stretched canvas using Winsor and Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oils. This project based on a photograph Carl's brother's brother-in-law Lee Eichelberger took while backpacking in Idaho.
