"Blue Heron"
18" X 24" Stretched Canvas, Acrylic Painting

Carl began scrubbing in the stumps this evening, playing with various browns and yellows to try to get the appropriate backdrop. It appears the color scheme might come together okay if the greys and blues of the birds don't clash with the greens and browns. Time will tell. So far this painting has been unlike any other Carl has worked on so he's finding that it is an interesting project, as he anticipated. Although it is not clear in the image above, the painting looks like an oil painting which is exactly what Carl was trying for. Carl has been mixing in a gloss gel medium into the acrylic paints according to something he read in an art supply catalog.Carl says "so far so good."

This project is a painting based on a photograph
by Stephen O. Muskie. You can see more of Mr. Muskie's
photography by visiting his website at www.outtakes.com
