[Fish Stories 5]

November 3, 2005 - See Narrative Below

"Fish Stories", Acrylic Painting
18" X 24" Stretched Canvas

Carl spent this evening adding another layer of detail into the background trees on the horizon. There are some trees in the distance and then there is a second closer row of trees that go across the top of the lake in the foreground.

Carl is trying to develop a blue gray haze to the distant greenery. Soon the fine brush detail of the trees will begin, a process that will make them appear much more distant than they do now. But Carl said the first thing to do is to get a myriad of background detail upon which to build the individual trees. Carl said "you've got to trick the eye into seeing what it knows should be there."

This project is being painted on an 18" X 24" stretched canvas with Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylics.

This project is an original painting based on a photograph Carl took in the north woods of Minnesota on Pelican Lake near Orr..
